Figma's Pre and Post-IPO Pricing Comparison
We analyze Figma on the eve of its IPO. They credit Figma’s meteoric rise to offering a free, browser-based, highly collaborative design tool that bridged the gap between heavyweight desktop products like Adobe and lightweight wireframing apps such as Balsamiq. We review Figma’s 2020 “good, better, best” pricing page, they praise how each tier mapped to clear segments (individuals, professional teams, enterprises) and bundled collaboration and design-system features valued by larger organizations. Fast forward to today, however, and they find the pricing page bloated: eight distinct products are crammed into three seat types (Collab, Dev, Full) across three packaging levels, creating nine price points that confuse buyers, force unwanted upgrades, and risk churn. We close by questioning whether the strategy will stand up six months after the IPO amid AI-driven deflation and rising competition.
